HOW DID ADAPT WITH THE NEW ENVIRONMENT IN THE COLLEGE

Way to adapt environment at college

(1)               Listen and observe
·         Spend the first few weeks observing and listening to your friend and lecture to figure out the best way to function. It can avoid you from making public mistake.
·         Do not try to impose new ideas and suggestions until you feel that they can accepted you.

(2)               Make friend
·         Making friends might not always be easy. It actually depends on the culture and your own personality.
·         If you have a shy personality, then you need to sharpen your people skill to actually get along.
·         Be friendly, smile as much as you can even to people who you don’t know.
·         Initiate discussions about interesting topic.
·          
(3)               Stay away from gossip
·         Gossip is very risky, it is based on unverifiable information.
·         Make sure that you stay away from gossiping and do not give your feedback on something you are not sure about.
·         Pretending to be busy with work when gossiping starts because it is a great way to survive a situation like that.

HOW TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH " FRIENDS"


Way to communicate effectively with friend


(1)              Be trustworthy and honest
·         When you’re trustworthy and honest, communication becomes a lot less complicated.
·         If you remain open, honest and worth of trust with your friend, you’ll have a much easier time communicating with you friend and your friend will be a lot more willing to communicate with you.

(2)              Stay in the moment
·         When you devote you full attention to the friend you are communicating with, you’re more likely to have much better results.
·         If you want to communicating your thoughts effectively, you have to stay in the present moment and really be there when you’re speaking and listening with your friend.

(3)              Pay attention to non-verbal cues
·         If you want to understand what friend are thinking or saying, you have to do more than to understand what your friends are really thinking or saying. You have to do more than just listen.
·         When communicating, you look both at your own non-verbal cues and those others are sending you. There’ s a lot to be said for what’s not really being said.

(4)              Ask for feedback from friends
·         When it’s all said and done, one of the best ways you can learn to communicate more effectively is to ask for feedback.
·         Take some time to speak to your friends with frequently to find out how you can improve on your communication with them.

HOW TO COMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH < FAMILY MEMBER>

(1) NORMALIZATION

     *   Parents like to know that they are not the only ones experiencing problems with their children, it helps ease the sense of failure and the fear or being labeled a “ bad ” parent.


(2) LISTEN, STAY CURIOUS

·         By listening and asking question, parents tend to be far more receptive when it comes time for them to listen.


(3) AVOID DISAGREEMENT

·     When talking with a parent never argue or assume an oppositional / confrontational position – even if you are right.



(4) INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

   * Effective interpersonal communication involves putting people ( family members ) at ease, respecting others opinions and capabilities, and encouraging the sharing of feelings and perceptions.


(5) TONE OF VOICE

·         Your tone of voice can determine the effect of your      message

·       *  Your tone of voice should match the message you’re trying to convey.

·       Varying the pitch to demonstrate excitement or disappointment can help your listener to hear the intent of the message.
