KIRTA, AFGHANISTAN - MARCH 24: Opium and wheat farmer Haji Jalal, aged 70, speaks with U.S. Marines on patrol on March 24, 2009 near the village of Kirta in southwest Afghanistan. Jalal said that while he grows wheat to feed his family he relies on opium poppies as a cash crop to buy other necessities, including the diesel fuel which he needs to pump water and irrigate his land.
